Södertörn University in Stockholm invites PhD students, early-career researchers, and advanced MA students specializing in Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and the post-Soviet space to participate in the CBEES Summer School 2025. This intensive interdisciplinary program will focus on key environmental, political, and societal challenges shaping the region.
About CBEES Summer School
The Centre for Baltic and East European Studies (CBEES) organizes this annual summer school to foster international academic exchange, bringing together scholars from around the world. Participants will engage in discussions on contemporary challenges, historical perspectives, and transnational connections while exchanging ideas with leading experts.
Main Theme for 2025
“Ecology, Politics, and Society in Eastern Europe” – The program will explore:
– Climate change and environmental policies in post-socialist states
– Political implications of ecological crises in Eastern Europe
– Social movements and environmental justice activism
– Urbanization, sustainability, and green transitions in the region
– Cross-border cooperation on environmental and social issues
– Eastern Europe’s role in global ecological and economic transformations
